Doodles are fun - Part 1
As Wiki says, " A doodle is an unfocused or unconscious drawing made while a person's attention is otherwise occupied. Stereotypical examples of doodling are found in school notebooks, often in the margins, drawn by students daydreaming or losing interest during class." :-)
Doodling is a wonderful way to relax. A pen and paper are all you need to doodle away. You can even do it while watching your favourite shows on TV and that's the best part for me :-)

These were drawn with black pen on the cardboard roll which came with the gift wrapping paper.

Lady of Music- Glass Painting
Glass painting can be used to create amazing decor for home. With a little patience glass and colours can be used to create unique art.
This is my first attempt at glass painting.
2. Glass painting colours (I used water based colours)
3. Glitter glue pens (optional).
2. Trace the image on the glass using the black outliner.
3. Allow the design to dry for 24 hours. Once it is dry use a craft knife to correct any mistakes made during the tracing. The knife can also be used to adjust the thickness of the lines.
4. Start filling in the glass colours. The tube of colour itself can be used in fluid motion to fill in the colours. Ensure that there are no bubbles after applying the colours. Use a small needle/pin to pop the bubbles before the paint dries.
5. Allow the paint to dry completely.
6. Glitter glue pens can be used to highlight the painting.
7. If needed, crushed aluminium foil can be used behind the glass for a shining effect.
Frame the piece and you have your glass painting ready!!!

Paper cutting - A few things
Paper cutting is a wonderful hobby. Though it takes patience and concentration the end results are always pretty.
Here are a few things I learned during my successful (and not so successful ) attempts at this art....
If the paper chosen is thin(like computer paper) you need to be extra careful as even a small wrong cut may ruin the entire work. Thin paper is easy to cut but needs care during the process of cutting and while gluing it to the background paper.
If the paper chosen is thick(like card stock) more pressure is needed while cutting.
A X-Acto knife is the best method I have come across. The sharper the knife the better the cut.
Voila!! You have created your wonderful piece of art!!!
Here are a few things I learned during my successful (and not so successful ) attempts at this art....
Materials used:
One of the things I love about paper cutting is that the materials needed are simple and easily available.
Paper to cut:
You can use any paper ranging from computer paper to card stock paper. It's always better to start practicing on the not-so-pretty papers till you get accustomed to the knife. If the paper chosen is thin(like computer paper) you need to be extra careful as even a small wrong cut may ruin the entire work. The image/design
You can use your own designs but if you are not good with drawing you can always trace the picture you like.Pen or pencil to draw:
A pen/pencil to draw the image.
Cutting knife:
Any small knife can be used for cutting. When I started cutting I used my small kitchen knife :-)A X-Acto knife is the best method I have come across. The sharper the knife the better the cut.
The process:
- First draw/trace the image on the paper.
- Decide the areas which are negative spaces and which need to be removed. If needed you can mark them so that you are not confused. You don't need to erase these as these will be on the other side of our art work.
- Start cutting and enjoy the process as it will be a while :-)
- Once finished carefully glue the piece to another paper which will be the background of our art work.
Voila!! You have created your wonderful piece of art!!!
Learnings:
- Make sure that when you draw the image it is continuous and there are no breaks in between.
- Use something like a self-healing mat or newspaper to protect your table/surface.
- The knifes are usually pretty sharp and be careful not to cut yourself
- Always take breaks in between as this can take a toll on your wrists if done for extended periods of time.
Happy Paper cutting !!!!!
Ladies - Papercut
I traced the image on black paper and cut it out. This was then glued on a white paper.

Photo frame from rolled paper
Had this picture of Lord Ganesha from an old calendar and needed a frame. Why worry when there is paper?
I rolled up construction paper in two different colours and glued them together. Then added a dash of glitter. As they say, when in doubt add glitter :-)
The flower on the top was added as an afterthought for the pop of colour.

Ganapathi -Paper Cut
This is one of my first experiments with paper cutting.
Materials used are construction paper (black and yellow) and a small kitchen knife. First I traced the image on the black paper and cut it out. Then I glued it on the yellow paper.
